Field Diagnostic Visit and Farmers Intraction Meet at Chittapur Village

A field diagnostic visit and farmer interaction meeting was organized in Chittapur village, Manchal mandal of Rangareddy District on 14th July 2025. The objective of the program is to assist farmers identify key crops like maize, paddy, cotton and tomato that are suitable for drone-based treatments, especially nano-fertilizer application and crop protection measures. The visit also aims to create awareness on modern technologies like drones with nano-fertilizers, which can be effectively integrated into existing cropping systems.

The event was led by Dr. Chandrakant M.H., Senior Scientist & Head, KVK-Ranga Reddy. He addressed the farmers and briefed the importance of field exposure visits. He stressed the need for crop identification for drone treatments for accurate input application, improved resource use efficiency and promoting sustainable agriculture.

Dr. S. Vijaya Kumar, SMS (Agricultural Engineering), explained the role of drone technology in modern agriculture, focusing on the use of nano-fertilizers in cotton rice, maize and tomato. He discussed the benefits of drone spraying such as uniform coverage, reduced labor, time efficiency and improved accuracy in fertilizer and pesticide application.

Dr. B. Bhargavi, Scientist (Agronomy), elaborated the use of nano-fertilizers in maize and vegetable crops. She discussed with the farmers how the use of nano-inputs using drones increases nutrient uptake, reduces environmental impact and supports healthy plant growth and its compatibility with drone sprayers.

During the visit, the farmers were also taken to cotton, maize and tomato fields where they observed crop setup and management practices. The experts explained the suitability of drone-based input delivery systems due to their uniform layout and availability. The farmers actively participated in the discussions and showed great interest in adopting drone-based treatments for their fields. A total of 32 farmers met and interacted with the scientist.
