On 10-12-2025, a group of 65 Krishi Sakhis under the Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ASRLM) visited KVK-Ranga Reddy of the Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture (CRIDA) in Hyderabad to strengthen their technical knowledge in agriculture and allied activities as a part of NIRDPR’s training programme.
The visit aimed to enhance their ability to support SHG members in adopting improved farming practices and income-generating activities as well as the proved technologies that are being implemented at the KVK.
The visit commenced with a warm welcome from Dr. Chandrakant M. H, Senior Scientist and Head, KVK; presented an overview of KVK’s mandate, services, and outreach programs. Dr. Gautam V. Chauhan (Agronomy), demonstrated enhanced agricultural practices that focused on soil health management and integrated nutrient and pest management (INM/IPM).
Dr. S. Dilip (Agricultural Extension) provided a demonstration on backyard poultry management and fodder cultivation as part of the exposure to allied activities. He also emphasized the importance of adopting organic practices in vegetable and fruit cultivation to address the current challenges in horticulture.
Dr. S. Vijaya Kumar, SMS (Agril. Eng.), conducted a talk on agricultural equipment and solar- based farm pond technology, along with techniques for raised-bed nurseries, line sowing, and water-saving irrigation methods.
Shri. P. Ramakrishna (Technical Officer); addressed the trainees and explained that SeedHub-Pulses is an initiative designed to improve pulse production in rural areas by providing farmers with high- quality seeds.
They visited to the KVK demonstration plots showcasing improved varieties of cotton and pulses, as well as an observation of farm machinery and small tools suitable for women farmers.
