On 2nd August, 2025 ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Ranga Reddy District, under the ICAR-Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture (CRIDA), Hyderabad, organized a programme of live viewing of the event release of 20th instalment under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) Scheme by Hon'ble Prime Minister from Varanasi Uttar Pradesh at Rythu Vedika, Yacharam, Ranga Reddy District, Hyderabad.
The programme was conducted which is a significant step toward reinforcing the government's commitment to supporting farmers. The successful execution of the telecast not only disseminated vital information regarding the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi but also fostered a sense of community among farmers.
The event, broadcast from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, marked the direct benefit transfer (DBT) of ₹20,500 crore to over 9.7 crore farmers across the country. A virtual address by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi was live-streamed from Varanasi, where he formally released the 20th instalment of the PM-KISAN scheme. The Prime Minister reaffirmed the government’s dedication to ensuring the economic stability of farmers and stressed the significance of timely financial assistance.
The PM-Kisan Scheme provides annual financial assistance of Rs 6,000, disbursed in three equal installments directly into the Aadhaar-linked bank accounts of farmers via the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system. The programme began with a welcome address and introductory remarks delivered by Dr. V. K. Singh, Director of ICAR-CRIDA. He emphasized the importance of PM-KISAN in supporting the livelihoods of small and marginal farmers and reiterated ICAR’s role in promoting dryland agriculture.
Shri Malreddy Ranga Reddy, Hon’ble MLA, Telangana, addressed the gathering as the Guest of Honour and praised the government’s commitment to farmer welfare.
Chief Guest Shri Kishan Reddy, Hon’ble Union Minister for Coals and Mines, who commended the hard work of farmers and institutions like KVK and ICAR. He highlighted that under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India is emerging as a global leader not only in terms of economic growth but also in agriculture. He emphasized that the Government of India schemes such as PM-KISAN, Soil Health Cards, e-NAM, and the promotion of FPOs have created a strong foundation for rural prosperity. He noted that the synergy between science, policy, and ground-level implementation has started showing visible impact in increasing farmer incomes and ensuring national food security. Shri Reddy urged farmers to take full advantage of these schemes and to stay connected with KVKs for knowledge and support.
A significant part of the event was the interaction session with farmers, which included insights and guidance from several experts from ICAR-CRIDA, universities and line department officers. Discussions focused on crop diversification, livestock management, soil and water conservation and climate-resilient farming practices.
The event saw the enthusiastic participation of over 816 members includes farmers, state department officials included Dr. Usha, District Agricultural Officer (DAO) for Ranga Reddy; Sri Suresh Kumar, District Horticulture Officer (DAO) for Ranga Reddy; Smt. Sujatha, ADA for Ranga Reddy; Sri Raghunath, MAO for Yacharam; Sri Santhosh, AEO for Yacharam; and Smt. Jyothi, AEO for Yacharam and scientists from CRIDA It served as a platform to reinforce the government's vision for transforming Indian agriculture through innovation, inclusion, and investment.
