ICAR-Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture organized the "Soil Health Management and Balanced Fertilizer Use” campaign under the Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav programme in response to the call from the Government of India and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) to promote balanced fertilizer use, soil health conservation, and natural farming among farmers on 01 July 2026 in Peddakaparthy village of Chityal mandal in Nalgonda district of Telangana.
Initially, Dr. Ravikant Adake, Principal Scientist (Farm Machinery & Power), briefed the participants on the background and objectives of the programme and emphasized the importance of the judicious application of fertilizers for sustaining crop productivity and maintaining soil health. T
his was followed by an interactive session by Dr. Tridiv Ghosh, Scientist (Agricultural Physics), who highlighted the importance of regular soil testing to assess soil nutrient status and encouraged farmers to apply fertilizers scientifically based on soil test recommendations for improving nutrient use efficiency, enhancing crop productivity, and conserving soil health. The programme was successfully organized in the presence of Agriculture Officer Mr. P. Giribabu, Agriculture Extension Officer Mrs. Shilpa B., and the Sarpanch, Mr. K. Venkanna.
A total of 35 farmers, including 5 women, participated in the awareness programme.
