IARI Hyderabad Hub celebrated Teachers’ Day on 5th September at nodal institute, ICAR-CRIDA. The Chief Guest of the function was Padma Shri Dr Arvind Kumar, Former Deputy Director General (Education), ICAR, and Former and Founder Vice Chancellor, Rani Lakshmi Bai Central Agricultural University, Jhansi. Directors of ICAR institutes located at Hyderabad, Nodal Officers, Discipline Coordinators, Faculty and Students of IARI Hyderabad Hub participated in the celebrations.

The programme began with Vande Mataram, Saraswati Vandana and floral tribute to Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.

Dr Priya Gurav, Senior Scientist introduced the programme and organized the proceedings. Dr K Srinivas, Academic Coordinator, IARI Hyderabad Hub welcomed the guests, faculty and students.

Director, ICAR-CRIDA, Dr VK Singh also welcomed the participants and acknowledged the contributions of the faculty to the hub’s academic programme.

Representatives of the students shared their thoughts about the contributions of the teachers to their academic and personality development.

Directors and nodal officers of ICAR institutes spoke about the significance of Teachers’ Day, the importance of teachers in shaping the lives of students and gave their blessings and messages to the students.

Director, ICAR-CRIDA, Dr VK Singh presented an overview of IARI Hyderabad including academic and other activities and achievements of the students.s

On this occasion, the Chief Guest felicitated the superannuated faculty members of IARI Hyderabad Hub in recognition of their valuable contributions to the Hub’s academic programme.

Chief Guest Padma Shri Dr Arvind Kumar delivered the Teachers’ Day Lecture on Protecting and Transforming the Teaching Profession in a Rapidly Changing World. He traced the evolution of education in general and agricultural education in particular and the reforms in the education system from time to time.

He outlined the challenges for the education system in the changing world and emphasized the role of good teachers, even in the digital age, in producing well rounded students who can contribute to society and nation building. He shared his experiences with students as a teacher, warden, and administrator.

The celebrations ended with vote of thanks by Dr V Maruthi, Discipline Coordinator (Agronomy) followed by National Anthem.
