ICAR-CRIDA organized the "Save the Field Campaign 2026" (खेत बचाओ अभियान) at Mubarakpur B village, Sadasivpet Mandal, Sangareddy district of Telangana on 3 June 2026.
The programme was conducted by ICAR-CRIDA scientists Dr. Prathibha, Dr. B.M.K. Raju, and Dr. Josily Samuel. The campaign aimed to create awareness among farmers about importance of balanced fertilizer use and how soil and water get polluted with excessive use of fertilizers. Need of soil testing was emphasized to determine the right doses of nutrient use based on crops to be grown.
Procedure of collecting soil sample for testing was explained. Farmers were made aware of alternate sources of fertilizers such as FYM, compost, green manures, biofertilizers and crop residue recycling. Farmers were given knowledge of benefits that can drawn from pulses, oilseeds and cotton missions and advantages of crop diversification.
Farmers of the village were not aware of new technology like HDPS planting method in cotton. The benefits of the technology were explained and farmers have shown interest to adopt the same. Further the farmers were convinced of the technologies like raised bed planting and mulching and their role in water conservation.
Total 50 farmers, including 20 women farmers, actively participated in the campaign. The programme was also attended by Village Panchayat Secretary Ms. Rekha and Upa-Sarpanch Mr. Mahesh, and Ms. Sireesha, Agricultural Extension Officer (AEO), whose active involvement and support contributed to the success of the event.
