ICAR- Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture organizing Save the Field Campaign 2026 (खेत_बचाओ_अभियान ) in response to the call from the Government of India and Indian Council of Agriculture (ICAR), to promote balanced fertilizer use, soil health conservation, and natural farming among farmers.
Under this programme ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad organized an awareness campaign on Balanced Fertilization use and Soil Health Management on 03 June 2026 at Julur village of Pochampalli mandal in Yadadri -Bhuvanagiri district of Telangana state.
The following scientists from ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad has attended the campaign: 1. Dr. I.Srinivas, Principal Scientist ( Farm machinery and Power) 2. Dr. N.Jyothi Lakshmi, Principal Scientist (Physiology) 3. Dr. N.Ravi Kumar, Principal Scientist (Computer Applications)
Shri. P. Shivamurthy, Agricultural extension Officer coordinated the meeting which was organized at the Rytuvedika in the village.A total of 60 farmers, including participated in the event.
Farmers were sensitized about the importance of soil test-based balanced fertilization for sustainable crop production. They were advised to avoid excessive use of urea, which can negatively affect soil health, crop productivity, and farm profitability.
Dr. I. Srinivas sensitized about the necessity of Balanced use of fertilizers based on the Soil test reports and explained the methodology on sampling technicques . He has advised the farmers to sow the green manuring crops like sunhemp, daincha etc before the Paddy transplanting as majority of the farmers are growing Paddy crop in this cluster. He also suggested to stop the residue burning and explained about the importance of residue incorporation and usage which will help in reduction of fertilizer use.
An interaction session was also held on water conservation strategies and appropriate mechanization practices to conserve the energy.
Dr. Jyoti explained about the use of Biofertilizers and Biopesticides to create the awareness on organic cultivation methods. Dr. Ravikumar briefed about using the digital tools for pest detection and to know the latest updates on markets. The team has created the awareness on Pulse mission and oil seed mission schemes and suggested to go for Redgram, green gram crops for crop diversification
