One-Day Training Programme on Integrated Crop Management in Field Crops for SCSP Farmers Organized at Chittapur Village


The ICAR–Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture (CRIDA), through its Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Ranga Reddy, successfully organized a one-day training programme on Integrated Crop Management (ICM) in Field Crops under the Scheduled Caste Sub Plan (SCSP) on 25th September 2025 at Chittapur Village, Manchal Mandal, Ranga Reddy District. The programme was graced by Dr. Chanderkant M.H., Head, KVK Ranga Reddy, and Smt. Uma Devi, Village Secretary, Chittapur, as Chief Guests.

In his address, Dr. Chanderkant emphasized the importance of field-level exposure visits and highlighted the role of ICM in improving resource-use efficiency, crop identification, and promoting sustainable agriculture.

The technical sessions were led by Dr. Gautam Veer Chauhan, Subject Matter Specialist (Agronomy), who provided detailed insights into best practices of ICM with a focus on sustainable and profitable farming systems.

Dr. G. Srikrishna (Horticulture Specialist), discussed about fruit and vegetable crop cultivation, integrated disease and pest management through organic and chemical approaches, and the advantages of combining horticulture with agriculture-based systems.

Dr. D. Sudheer (Animal Science Specialist) addressed common livestock diseases and their management strategies to ensure animal health and productivity.

Dr. Gautam Veer Chauhan in training covered key aspects of ICM, including soil health management, efficient water use, balanced nutrient application, integrated pest and disease management, crop diversification and rotation, and resource conservation practices.

Through interactive sessions, field demonstrations, and practical exercises, farmers gained hands-on experience in identifying pest and disease symptoms, diagnosing nutrient deficiencies, and adopting improved agronomic practices. Participants appreciated the practical knowledge shared and expressed confidence in adopting ICM practices in their fields.

More than 30 farmers from Chittapur village actively participated in the training sessions.
