Kisan Gosthi was Organised on the ‘Balanced Use of Fertilizers by ICAR-Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture(ICAR-CRIDA), Hyderabad on 27 April, 2026 for Sustainable Crop Production under the Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav programme.. The initiative was conducted as part of the Intensive Campaign on Balanced Use of Fertilizers launched by ICAR, New Delhi.
A team of scientists visited Kethireddypalli Village, Balanagar Mandal, Mahboobnagar District, Telanagana. Dr. V. Maruthi, Principl Scientist (Agronomy) and Head (In-charge), Division of Crop Sciences, emphasised the importance of judicious application of fertilisers to sustain yields and improve soil health. She also highlighted the aspects of Integrated Nutrient Management (INM) in agriculture.
This was followed by a field demonstration on the use of Phosphorus Solubilizing Bacteria (PSB) to improve the availability of phosphorus in the soil.
Dr. Sarath Chandran M.A., Senior Scientist (Agril. Meteorology) and Dr. Anshida Beevi C.N., Scientist (Agril. Extension) also participated in the demonstration and distributed the leaflets on PSB to the farmers.
A total of 20 farmers (14 women and 06 men) participated in the awareness programme including Mr. Sudhakar Rao, progressive farmer and Mrs. Krishna Veni, Krishi Sakhi. The programme was attended by Mrs. Shwetha (Agricultural Extension Officer).
