Kisan Goshti Organized by ICAR-CRIDA KVK


A Kisan Goshti (Farmer Interaction Meeting) was successfully organized on 10 January 2026 at Ekmai Village of Shahabad Mandal in Vikarabad District under the Model Pulse Village Project by Krishi Vigyan Kendra Ranga Reddy district, ICAR–CRIDA, Hyderabad. The programme aimed at creating awareness among the farmers about latest agriculture technologies, strengthening farmer–scientist interaction and promoting improved pulse seeds varieties, climate-resilient farming practices in dryland areas

The programme was graced by Dr. V. K. Singh, Director, ICAR–CRIDA, Hyderabad, as the Chief Guest. Other dignitaries present included Dr. Raja Ratnam, District Agriculture Officer, Vikarabad District; Dr. T. Rajeshwar Reddy, Scientist, TRVV; Smt. Puppali Shashikala, Sarpanch, Ekmai Village; Shri T. Venkaiah, Up-Sarpanch; Shri Sandeep, Assistant Director of Agriculture (Technical); Shri Kurmaiah, Agricultural Officer, Tandur; and Dr. Chandrakant M.H., Head, KVK Ranga Reddy

Addressing the gathering, Dr. V. K. Singh emphasized the importance of pulse crops, scientific nutrient management, and adoption of climate-resilient technologies for improving soil health and enhancing farmers’ income in dryland regions. He encouraged farmers to adopt ICAR-recommended technologies and assured continued technical support from KVK and ICAR–CRIDA. Dr. Raja Ratnam, DAO Vikarabad highlighted various ongoing government schemes, availability of quality seed, and extension support services for farmers in Vikarabad district.

The Model Pulse Village (MPV) project has been coordinated by Dr. Gautam Veer Chauhan, Nodel Officer, MPV project & Agronomy Expert; Dr. Dilip S., Subject Matter Specialist (Agricultural Extension); and Mr. P. Ramakrishna, Technical Officer during Kisan Goshti, Veterinary and horticultural technical sessions were conducted by Dr. D. Sudheer, SMS (Vet. Science) and Dr. G. Srikrishna, SMS (Horticultural). They provided guidance on scientific livestock management, horticultural diversification, integrated pest and diseases management, sustainable crop production practices, and value addition aspects of Red gram.

A total of 154 farmers actively participated in the programme. An interactive field visit was also conducted to showcase the outcome of Model Pulse Village Programme during the project teams demonstrated the improved agronomic practices in pulse crops and addressed farmers’ field-level problems on the spot.
