ICAR- Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture organizing Save the Field Campaign 2026 (खेत_बचाओ_अभियान ) in response to the call from the Government of India and Indian Council of Agriculture (ICAR), to promote balanced fertilizer use, soil health conservation, and natural farming among farmers.
Under this programme ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad organized an awareness campaign on Balanced Fertilization under Khet Bachao Abhiyan on 5th June 2026 at Kusarampally village, Chincholi, Kalburgi district, Karnataka under SCSP programme
30 male farmers and 15 farm womens participated in the programme.
Dr Ravikant Adake Principal Scientist (Farm machinery), ICAR-CRIDA welcomed the farmers and explained the purpose of the campaign and explained about different water saving technology to the farmers.
Dr K B Sridhar Senior Scientist (Agroforestry) urged the farmers to follow soil test based, balanced fertilizer use and avoid excessive use of urea to preserve the health of the soil, increase crop yields and cut down avoidable fertilizer costs.
Dr Priya Gurav, Senior Scientist (Soil Science) explained about the need to use biofertilizers for reducing chemical fertilizers and maintaining soil helath, and demonstrated seed treatment with biofertilizers and also demonstrated the soil sample collection in farmers field.Dr Ravikant advised the farmers to apply organic manures and green manures to reduce the use of chemical fertilizers and informed them of sustainable agricultural practices.
The farmers were informed of the proper procedure for soil sampling and literature on soil sampling was distributed to the farmers.
