ICAR-CRIDA,KVK organized Khet Bachao Abhiyan at KVK Ranga Reddy District


As part of the nationwide “Khet Bachao Abhiyan” campaign, an Awareness Programme on Balanced Use of Fertilizers (BUF) was organized by KVK Ranga Reddy, ICAR-CRIDA at KVK Ranga Reddy District on 24 June 2026.

Around 52 farmers (36 Male & 16 Female) from Chittapur, Madgula and Amangal village actively participated in the event.

Dr. Chandrakant M.H., Head, KVK Ranga Reddy, welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of balance use of fertilizers, the role of eco-friendly farming practices for maintaining long-term soil fertility and enhancing crop productivity.

The programme was graced by Dr. V. K. Singh, Director, ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad, as the Chief Guest and Dr. A. R. Reddy, Principal Scientist, ICAR-ATARI, Hyderabad, as the Guest of Honour.

In his address, Dr. V. K. Singh emphasized the importance of conserving soil health through balanced nutrient management, soil test-based fertilizer application, and integrated farming approaches for sustainable agricultural productivity. He encouraged farmers to reduce excessive dependence on chemical fertilizers and adopt eco-friendly agricultural practices.

Dr. A. R. Reddy highlighted the significance of scientific fertilizer application, integrated nutrient management, and the role of Krishi Vigyan Kendras in disseminating improved agricultural technologies to farming communities. He stressed the need for awareness among farmers regarding judicious fertilizer use for maintaining soil fertility and environmental sustainability.

The KVK team comprising Dr. S. Vijayakumar, SMS (Agricultural Engineering), Dr. D. Sudheer (Veterinary Science), Mr. G Srikrishna SMS (Horticulture), Dr. Dilip S., SMS (Agricultural Extension), Dr. Gautam Veer Chauhan, SMS (Agronomy), Dr. P Hima Bindu (Plant protection) and Mr. P Ramakrishna, (Technical officer), interacted with farmers and highlighted various aspects of sustainable agriculture and sensitized about the possible impacts of El Niño conditions on rainfall and crop production and were advised on suitable risk-mitigation measures.
