To create widespread awareness among cotton farmers regarding improved cultivation practices, KVK Ranga Reddy organized a 'Kisan Mela' on March 26, 2026, at the Rythu Vedika in Manchal, Manchal Mandal, under the special project 'Cotton on HDPS & CS'

Dr. Chandrakant M.H., Senior Scientist and Head KVK, delivered the welcome address and emphasized the importance of such farmer-focused programs in strengthening extension services and ensuring the effective spread of scientific technologies to farmers.

Dr. S. Vijaya Kumar, SMS (Ag Engg) Project Nodal Officer and the Organizing Secretary of the Kisan Mela, presented an overview detailing the progress and achievements of the special project on cotton.

Mr. M. Sai Krishna of IFFCO, Mr. B. Satya Narayana of Satya Narayana Seed Works Pvt. Ltd., and Mr. Anand of RASI Seeds Pvt. Ltd. explained to farmers the improved hybrid cotton varieties suitable for the HDPS method.

Smt. Vinjamuri Alivelu Chittapur Sarpanch and Smt. Arpula Manasa Manchal Village Sarpanch emphasized the importance of knowledge exchange and collective effort among farmers for agricultural development.

Usha Rani DAO emphasized the importance of government support and extension services in promoting modern agricultural practices and encouraged farmers to avail themselves of the available schemes.

Sujatha ADA Ibrahimpatnam Division highlighted the significance of timely sowing, balanced fertilizer application, integrated pest management, and efficient water usage to enhance productivity and sustainability.

Dr. K. Sridhar senior Scientist, ICAR-CRIDA and Link Officer to KVK Ranga Reddy, emphasized the importance of research-based and location-specific technologies for improving cotton productivity under dryland conditions.

Dr. Shaik N. Meera, Director, ICAR-ATARI Zone-X, Hyderabad, addressed the gathering as the Chief Guest and appreciated the efforts of KVK in organizing the Kisan Mela on a large scale. He highlighted the importance of scaling up HDPS and Closer Spacing technologies across clusters to enhance cotton productivity and farmer income.

In recognition of their outstanding achievements in cotton cultivation, the Chief Guest and dignitaries distributed awards and certificates to the farmers who demonstrated exceptional performance. Representing the Madgula, Manchal, Yacharam, Ibrahimpatnam, and Amangal clusters, a total of 300 farmers participated in this 'Kisan Mela';
