On 1st October, 2025, about 50 Agricultural Engineering students from Kerala Agricultural University (KAU) presently attached to National Institute of Plant Health Management (NIPHM), visited KVK-Ranga Reddy of the Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture (CRIDA) in Hyderabad to acquire hands-on experience in agricultural techniques and research efforts.
The aim of the visit for the students was to understand the mandate, facilities, and real-life operations of a Krishi Vigyan Kendra under KVK RangaReddy and to see engineering / mechanization interventions and latest technologies in agriculture.
Dr. Chandrakant M. H, Senior Scientist and Head of KVK, along with the KVK team, welcomed the students .
The students were familiarized with various KVK activities such as Watershed Management, Irrigation Systems, Fodder Cafeteria, and the Seed Hub Project, all highlighting the innovative practices implemented by KVK.
The KVK team, comprising Subject Matter Specialists Dr. S. Vijaykumar (Agricultural Engineering), Dr. D. Sudheer (Veterinary Science), Dr. Gautam V. Chauhan (Agronomy), and Shri P. Ramakrishna (Technical Officer), organized a guided tour of the KVK-RR facilities.
The students explored the latest mechanization and engineering tools, including drones, which aid in minimizing labour while enhancing consistency and efficiency. Also, they recognized the significance of adapting agricultural technologies to suit local agro-ecological conditions. Engineers
