Exposure Visit of Farmer Groups from Tamil Nadu to ICAR-CRIDA-KVK


As part of the State Exposure Visit, farmer groups from Walajabad Block, Kancheepuram District and from Acharapakkam Block, Chengalpattu District, Tamil Nadu, visited ICAR-CRIDA, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Ranga Reddy on 3rd September 2026. The visiting farmers were welcomed and briefed on the objectives and activities of the KVK Rangareddy by Dr. S. Vijaya Kumar, SMS (Agricultural Engineering). He subsequently explained the importance of farm mechanization in improving agricultural efficiency and productivity.

Dr. Gautam V. Chauhan, SMS (Agronomy) explained the importance and benefits of organic farming, including the use of various Kashayams (botanical extracts) for effective crop protection and management..

Dr. Sudhir, SMS (Veterinary), highlighted the vital role of livestock and veterinary care in dryland farming, emphasizing proper nutrition and scientific management for healthy livestock. A field visit to the fodder demonstration plot introduced farmers to fodder species

Shri P. Ramakrishna, Technical Officer, emphasized the importance of pulses such as chickpea, pigeon pea, black gram, green gram and lentil for protein and nutritional security.

Later, farmers visited the seed processing unit, where demonstrated the various stages involved in seed cleaning, grading, treatment, and packaging.

A total of 25 farmers, along with their coordinators, participated in the programme and received information on the relevance and practical applications of various technologies to enhance agricultural productivity, profitability, and resource-use efficiency.
