Awareness Campaign and Baseline Data Collection on Balanced Use of Fertilizers in Manchal mandal of Ranga Reddy district


An awareness campaign along with baseline data collection on the balanced use of fertilizers was successfully organized by KVK Ranga Reddy, ICAR-CRIDA on 17th April 2026 at Bandalemoor village, Manchal mandal, Ranga Reddy district.

Dr. Dilip S (SMS Agril. Extension), briefed about balanced use of fertilizers is essential for maintaining soil health, improving crop productivity, and ensuring sustainable agriculture. However, indiscriminate and excessive use of certain fertilizers, particularly DAP, has led to nutrient imbalances in many regions. Keeping this in view, the programme was organized to create awareness among farmers and to collect baseline information regarding existing fertilizer use practices.

Dr. D. Sudheer (SMS Veterinary Science) emphasized the importance of integrating livestock with farming by promoting the use of farmyard manure, compost, and other organic inputs derived from animal waste, thereby supporting integrated nutrient management. Dr. S. Vijaya Kumar (SMS Agril. Engineering), explained efficient fertilizer application techniques such as proper placement methods, use of farm machinery, fertigation practices, and water management to enhance nutrient use efficiency and reduce wastage.

Sarpanch Sri P. Srinivas, Upa-Sarpanch Sri B. Ramesh, Panchayat Secretary Sri Pandu Ranga Reddy, Sai Kumar (YP-1), E. Chandu (YP-1) participated in the program along with 29 farmers.
