Skill development of tribal farmers under TSP

ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad conducted five days training programme for farmers from Adilabad District under TSP on “Resilience Agriculture and Contingency Planning” from February 19-23, 2024.

The training programme was inaugurated on February 19, 2024 wherein Dr. S S Balloli SIC, PME was the chief guest of the function. Dr. S S Balloli in his address laid emphasis on the capacity to develop resilience among farmers. He further urged the farmers to adopt contingency plans in case of weather aberration. The training includes lectures, hands on experience and also exposure visits. Various lectures on the topics like Climate resilient Agriculture in Adilabad District, Agrometeorology and Contingency Plan, Farm mechanization in Resilient Agriculture, Crop Contingency planning in Adilabad District of Telangana etc were conducted for the participants. Farmers visited Hayathnagar research farm and Gunegal Research Farm for practical exercises. The training programme was attended by 30 tribal farmers. Farmers also attended the “Kisan Mela” organised by KVK Hayatnagar on February 19, 2024.

As a part of training programme various exposure visits were conducted for the farmers including ICAR-National Meat Research Institute, Hyderabad, Millet processing unit of PJTSAU, Hyderabad and ICAR- Indian Institute of Oilseed Research, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad. Farmers also participated in the National Seminar on “Smart technologies for sustainable agricultural development” on February 23, 2024 wherein a Farmer’s session was conducted.

The valedictory session was held on February 23, 2024 wherein Dr. V.K Singh, Director ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad distributed the certificate of participation during the session. The Training programme was coordinated by Dr. Jagriti Rohit Scientist (Agril. Extn), Dr. Manoranjan Kumar Principal Scientist (Soil and water conservation engg) and Nodal Officer, Dr. B Narsimulu Principal Scientist (Soil and water conservation engg), Dr. K B Sridhar Senior Scientist (Agroforestry), Dr. A.K Indoria, Senior Scientitst (Soil Physics), Dr. S Kundu, Senior Scientist (Agronomy) and Dr. P Priya Gurav Scientist (Soil Science).
