Distribution of Chickpea seeds and monitoring of interventions under SC Sub Plan at Chincholi Taluka, Kalaburagi District, Karnataka.

A team of scientists visited to Chincholi Taluka in the Kalaburagi district of Karnataka as part of the SC Sub Plan. In the village of Chindanoor, a community meeting was organized, attracting the participation of approximately 100 farmers. The recommended agricultural practices for the cultivation of the rabi crops were discussed in the meeting. Additionally, the distribution of chickpea seeds to promote their cultivation during the Rabi season was also taken up.

During the visit, the scientists closely monitored the implementation of various interventions of the SC Sub plan, such as the use of tarpaulin and the operation of six-row planters in the different cropping systems. Tarpaulins are very much useful for on-farm sun drying, stacking & handling of grains before selling the produce to market, said farmers. With six row planter farmers could able to save 12-15% seed compared to prevailing practices. The event was coordinated by a team of scientists, including Dr. Ravikant Adake, Principal Scientist (FMP), Dr. R. Rejani, Principal Scientist (SWCE), and Dr. Savitha Santosh, a Scientist (Agricultural Microbiology).
