India Meteorological Department (IMD) celebrated the 150th year of its establishment on 15 Jan 2024 in the Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. More than 750 delegates representing Ministries of Environmental Sciences, Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Home, Defence, Water Resources and several other ministries participated in the program. Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, Hon'ble Vice President of India acted as the Chief Guest, and Shri Kiren Rijiju, Hon’ble Cabinet Minister, MoES acted as the Guest of Honour. Secretary MoES and Director General of IMD graced the occasion. On this occasion, an exhibition was also arranged, in which several organizations and institutes exhibited their work. ICAR stall exhibited its achievements, especially on Agromet Advisories, Dynamic Crop Weather Calendar, Climate Resilient Agriculture, District Agricultural Contingency Plan, Risk and Vulnerability Atlas, etc. Dr. Santanu Kumar Bal, Project Coordinator, AICRP on Agrometeorology, ICAR-CRIDA, and Dr N. Subash, Head, Division of Agricultural Physics, ICAR-IARI represented ICAR on this occasion.
