ICAR-Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture (ICAR-CRIDA), Hyderabad in collaboration with National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE), Hyderabad organized five-days training program on ‘Innovative Extension Strategies for Sustainable Natural Resource Management in Rainfed Agriculture’ from 30 October-03 November, 2023 at ICAR-CRIDA, Santoshnagar, Hyderabad. On 30th October, 2023, inauguration of the training programme was held. Dr. V.K Singh, Director, ICAR-CRIDA was the guest of honour and Dr. Shaik N. Meera, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Hyderabad was the chief guest of the session. Initially Dr. Anshida Beevi C.N., Training Course Director briefed about the training programme. During the inauguration, Dr. V.K. Singh addressed the participants and spoke about novel extension strategies in the changing agricultural scenario. He stressed the importance of resource conservation practices to ensure sustainability. Dr. Shaik N. Meera highlighted the role of FPOs as well as the need to focus on skill development and secondary agriculture. The training was planned in two modules, first module covering NRM topics and the second one covering social science topics. Various topics covered in the training include climate resilient agriculture, NICRA experiences, extension models for livestock technologies dissemination, contingency planning, agro-met advisories, dryland horticulture, farmer-centric extension approaches, institutional interventions, impact assessment, farm mechanization, gender issues in agriculture, natural farming, IPM strategies and digital extension. The valedictory session of the training was held on 03rd November, 2023. Dr. JVNS Prasad, Project Coordinator, AICRPDA was the chief guest of the session. Around 80 participants from more than 20 states attended the training programme. A team comprising Dr. B. Renuka Rani, Deputy Director (NRM), MANAGE and Dr. Anshida Beevi C.N., Scientist (Agril.
