ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad conducted five days training programme for farmers from Adilabad District under TSP on ““Livestock Production Management for Sustainable Livelihood in Dryland” from October 16-20, 2023.

The training programme was inaugurated on October 16, 2023 by Dr. V.K Singh, Director ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad. Dr. Singh in his address emphasised on the importance of livestock in dryland agriculture. He motivated farmers to adopt the good practices in in livestock management. The training includes lectures, hands on experience and also exposure visits. Various topics like Livestock production and management in dryland, Fodder Augmentation through Agroforestry, Shelter Management for small ruminants etc wee covered during the training programm. Farmers visited Hayathnagar research farm and Gunegal Research Farm for practical exercises on livestock production and management. Twenty-five Women farmer and five Male participated in the training programme.

As a part of training programme various exposure visits were conducted for the farmers including ICAR-National Meat Research Institute, Hyderabad and Directorate of Poultry Research, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad. Farmers were exposed to various breed of poultry. They were also taught about the benefits of backyard poultry. Farmers were also taken to Masqati milk processing unit to learn about the processing avenues in milk. Farmers were made aware about the importance self-help group The valedictory session was held on October 20, 2023 wherein Head DRM, Dr. K V Rao addressed the trainees and received feedback from them. Trainees were given certificate of participation during the session. The Training programme was coordinated by Dr. Jagriti Rohit Scientist (Agril. Extn), Dr. Manoranjan Kumar Principal Scientist (Soil and water conservation engg) and Nodal Officer, Dr. P.K Pankaj Principal Scientist (Agril. Extn), Dr. B Sanjeeva Reddy and Dr. S Kundu Senior Scientist (Agronomy).
